Cooking in the Boot is apart of the legacy left behind by Donna Scala, Ex Chef/Owner at Bistro Don Giovanni in Napa California. Donna passed away almost 4 years ago but her spirit continues on through the memories and dishes that she created in the restaurant that continues to thrive today. I had the privilege of visiting Torre Del Greco in Campania, in the southern region of Italy outside of Naples where Donna's first introduction into Italian cuisine was born. I walked in the very same footsteps into the local trattoria's,Pizzeria's, bakeries, fish markets and neighborhoods where she adopted her deep rooted love affair for Italy, the food, culture and it's people. The images in this gallery are the visual backdrop into the cookbook that she so dreamed about. With a conviction in my heart and the relentless drive to see this into fruition, I will continue to find a way making this book into a reality. I would like to dedicate the work towards Donna's life long achievement of bringing the world of regional Italian cuisine into California.
